Mission Statement
The mission of the McGarrah Elementary Counseling Department is to provide an environment that encourages students to reach their highest potential in academics, personal/social, and career competencies enabling them to develop into life-long learners as they become responsible and productive citizens.
Philosophy Statement
I believe that all students have the ability to learn if provided with the essential tools. Counselors help provide those tools by implementing a comprehensive school counseling program. It is important that the program is one that is preventative in nature while encouraging students to address academic, personal/social and career goals.
Guidance Curriculum
As the counselor at McGarrah Elementary one of my roles is to provide classroom guidance to ALL students. Guidance is scheduled on a monthly basis and allows me to provide grade level lessons that are developmentally appropriate. The topics are outlined in my School Counselor Curriculum Action Plan. Data is collected during some of my lessons to determine the effectiveness of the lesson.
